Maria was a very close friend of mine and the first person I talked to when I started working in
Servisair.
On the 19th of Dec 2008, Maria finished her usual shift in work and headed home for a night out,
like any other night with her friends.
Maria was looking forward to the Christmas and had gone out with spare money she’d had left over
after buying the last of her Christmas presents for her family and friends. Maria never returned
home that night.
Maria was fatally injured when she was hit by a passing car whilst crossing the road.
The morning after the accident a call was received in work to tell us of the accident and say Maria
was on life support machine and critical. A moment I will never forget.
She bravely hung on until the 22nd of Dec until her both her parents, Patricia and Brian were forced
to make the heartbreaking decision to let their only daughter go.
Maria’s parents then went on to make the brave decision of donating her organs so that their
daughter could go on to save other people lives.
She was finally laid to rest on the 24th Dec 2008, Christmas Eve.. a day I now remember for all the
wrong reasons.
Maria was the most down to earth person you could meet and so easy to talk to.
Her big cheery smile would light up the darkest room and she was always the first (and last off!)
the dance floor at many a Christmas party.
Most of the two years we spent together were made up of laughing, joking, last minute shift swaps
and the remainder trying to cover up one another mistakes!
I never knew, and wish I still didn’t, how much it hurts to loose a friend.

Some days are harder than others and not one goes by that I don’t think of her and wish things
could have turned out differently.
She will always have a special place in the heart of mine and those that knew her x

That only you could hear
And no one heard the footsteps
Of angels drawing near
It was a sudden parting,
Too bitter to forget,
Those who loved you dearly

We often sit and think of you,
And think of how you died;
To think you could not say goodbye,
Before you closed your eyes.
Your life was one of kindly deeds,
A helping hand for others needs,
Sincere and true in heart and mind,
Beautiful memories left behind.
The blow was hard, the shock severe,
To part with one we loved so dear,
Our loss is great, we’ll not complain,
But trust in God to meet again.
They say there is a reason,
They say that time will heal,
But neither time nor reason,
Will change the way we feel

Well Maria, where do we start - We'll begin by saying you'v touched many hearts! We all agreed not to make this so sad but to reflect on the memories we had!
First we can say & all agree, U are one in a million which others can see,
So pretty & sweet, so gentle & fun, which doesnt make sense why u were d choosen one!
When we look at ur pictures all we do is cry & keep assking God - Our Maria why? God took u from our group of seven but you'll do us proud - the prettiest girl in heaven!
We had a laugh & a chat about u, All d funny little things u would do
'Sparley' for instance is one of d best your 'Volka & spelling along with d rest
You made d years with us a pleasure, In our hearts those memories we'll always treasure. Your bright blue eyes & gorgeous face is definetly someting we wont erase
Who would have thought that night was ur last, We cant believe it happened so fast. An Angel u are looking down from the sky you'll be with us always as d days go by!

I stood by your bed last night;
I came to have a peep.
I could see that you were crying you found it hard to sleep.
I spoke to you softly as you brushed away a tear,
'It's me, I haven't left you, I'm well, I'm fine, I'm here.'
I was close to you at breakfast,
I watched you pour the tea,
You were thinking of the many times, your hands reached to me.
I was with you at the shops today; your arms were getting sore.
I longed to take your parcels, I wish I could do more.
I was with you at my grave today; you tend it with such care.

I flew with you towards the house, as you fumbled for your key.
I gently landed on you; I smiled and said, 'it's me.'
You looked so very tired, and sank into a chair. I tried so hard to let you know, that I was there.

You sat there very quietly, then smiled, I think you knew...
in the stillness of that evening, I was very close to you.
The day is over... I smile and watch you yawning and say 'good-night, God bless, I'll see you in the morning.'
And when the time is right for you to cross the brief divide,
I'll fly across to greet you and we'll stand, side by side.
